Your scientific team must file a final proposal based on your analysis of the Reconnaissance and Surveillance Data Analysis and Sample Data Analysis with the ILDC. In the proposal your team will propose how you will develop Donner or Blitzen and best utilize its resources. Your development proposal must be supported by the data you collected. The best proposal will be awarded the partnership, the fame, and the culinary bonus.
In Phase I of this mission you completed a reconnaissance and surveillance project on the planet Donner and its' moon, Blitzen. In Phase II, you completed an initial exploration to Donner or Blitzen. In Phase III, you conducted a series of tests on the samples you obtained on your initial exploration.
You have now reached Phase IV. It is time to analyze the results of those tests and use them to reach a conclusion about the future development of Donner or Blitzen. Your proposal MUST follow the format described below.
1. Cover Page (3 pts): Include your group logo, group name, names of all group members, and title of your proposal
2. Introduction (5 pts): Describe your plan for development of your planet. Explain your original reason for interest in the planet and tell what observations from the ILDC satellite data let you to choose it for further study.
3. Data and Results: Briefly describe each of the tests you performed on your soil, water, and atmosphere samples. Make sure you include the following tests:
1. Soil tests for evidence of life (3 pts)
2. pH of liquid samples (3 pts)
3. Reactivity of Metals and identification (3 pts)
4. Signs of life in liquid samples (3 pts)
5. Spectroscopy - Analysis of Atmosphere (3 pts)
For each lab
• Explain what the lab tested
• Tell what your results were
• Summarize what those results tell you about your planet
4. Conclusion (7 pts):
• Given your information and data, is there a profit to be made on Donner/Blitzen (look at the ILDC Metal Price Index)?
• How does the evidence from your data impact or relate to your mission proposal?
• Suggest how humans will function on Donner/Blitzen in your final proposal.
